The best laid plans.....

As my part time status is quickly coming to a close I realize that I need more than a few hours of sleep a night and am desperately trying to train my 4 month old son to sleep through the night, without a pacifier. It seemed like a noble idea a few days ago; however, after 3 nights of wrestling with him (what a mental image huh?) I am wondering who will come out the victor. I need to win this battle though so I can't give up even though I scarcely have the energy to do my work and play with my 2 year old who just wants mommy to have some energy left over for her, poor dear. I have 3 more days to train him. Then we have a 10 day whirl wind of activities and then Josh and I both start back to work full time and the kids are in day care. Wow......

  1. Hi Sham!

First, when did you go do Disneyland? I'm so jealous!!!

Some ideas...we actually let all the kids at around 3 months sleep with us in bed for a few nights. Somehow lying with us and waking up when we wake up got them in a good routine. Of course, WE didn't get much sleep for fear of rolling over on them! But we weren't getting much sleep the other way either.

About the pacifer. I'm not sure. All three kids just stopped using it at around 4 months anyway. We always did some rice cereal right before bed mixed with formula/breast milk. Somethings about a full belly helps.

    We miss you!

    Love, Lizzie

  2. It is so hard to let htem cry it out. Once you get over that hump the sleep is so nice. I have to go through it all over again with Susannah soon. Too many different beds over the past few months has her up 3-4 times per night and she's one next week.
So I feel your pain and need for 4 straight hours of sleep:)
